Athens, Greece, May 12, 2010. Our vessel was attacked by pirates while in passage from Lake Charles, LA (USA) to Fujairah, via the Cape, loaded with 31,500 MT of bagged rice. The attack commenced on 10.05.2010 at 05:03 UTC at 00 02 00 N – 65 00 E and lasted for over two hours. Shots were fired while there were multiple attempts to board the vessel.

The M/T Amoureux is a Suezmax crude oil tanker vessel with a deadweight of 150,393 MT, built in 2008 by Universal Shipbuilding Corporation at the Ariake Shipyard in Japan.

The M/T Alexander the Great is a very large crude carrier (VLCC) with a deadweight of 297,958 MT, built by Universal Shipbuilding Corporation at the Ariake Shipyard in Japan. The M/T Achilleas, a sister newbuilding VLCC currently under construction at Universal Shipbuilding Corporation in Japan, is expected to be delivered at the end of June 2010.
